AWG: American Wire Gauge
CMIL: Circular Mil
KCMIL: Kilo Circular Mil
1 mil = 1/1000 inch = 0.0254 mm
1 kcmil = 1000cmil = π/4 x (0.0254)^2 x 1000 mm2 = 0.5067mm2
1 mm2 = 1.9735 kcmil
* note: AWG increases in number the diameter or size of the wire decreases, which means AWG is inversely related to others. For instance, a wire gauge of 10 can handle a current of 30 amps whereas a wire a gauge of 20 can handle a current of 5 amps.
